Kasernen (the barracks) is the former marine barracks at Lynetten. Lynetten was one of the four islands that were established in the late 1800s as a defence for Copenhagen Harbour. The young Danish cadets were placed at the barracks as marine soldiers until the mid 1960ies. Beside Kasernen lies a minor bunker plant, a battery with a war barracks.

Kasernen now functions as Teaterøen's café and foyer in the lifted ground floor. The former gymnasium (athletic ​facility), where the cadets likely were pushed to their physical limits, now holds an auditorium. Take a look at the pictures to find out more about the different rooms and spaces.
